Lydia is known to have issued the first coinage in commerce starting around 600 BC. The coins were simple in design A lion was the typical image as it represented royalty and dominance. On the back of the coin were 2 nondescript punch marks. The coin's value was based on metallic value and weight. Imagine what these coins witnessed in ancient history several hundred years before Jesus Christ walked the earth.
This coin has been individually graded and authenticated by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), an internationally renowned authenticating organization based in Florida with offices throughout the world and whose staff includes long time specialists of U.S. and Ancient coins. NGC has been around since 1987.
