Theodore Roosevelt letter as a Rough Rider 1898. RARE

A rare and very desirable letter signed by Roosevelt during his short tenure as a Rough Rider.  The Rough Riders, a volunteer cavalry led by Roosevelt against Spain's colonization of Cuba, fought in the Spanish American War. The band of fighters included miners, cowboys, law enforcement men and others. 

Whether movies, stories or documentaries, Roosevelt’s legend is paramount as a Rough Rider more so than even as President, even though his tenure as a Rough Rider was very short. This letter, dated August 26, 1898 was signed by Roosevelt in a rich dark ink while in Long Island, New York.  It was in response to a letter of congratulations from Governor Roger  Wolcott of Massachusetts.  Letters signed by Roosevelt as a Rough Rider, between May and August 1898, are rare, sought after and more valuable than letters when as president
